Upload Guidelines
This server does not have unlimited capacity, visitors do not have unlimited
patience, players do not have unlimited tolerance. That's why I ask
everyone going to upload a file to respect the following rules.
- Only upload packages which took a reasonable amount of work. Please do not
fill this site with stuff everyone could create within a few minutes.
- Please do not upload files if you have own space in the WWW. Submit links
to your files, instead. If you have an own website, submit one link to
your site instead of links to every single file.
- Take care on file size. Try to make the package as small as possible. This
will reduce used server space, download time and traffic caused by downloads.
- Take care on usability. Prepare the contents of the package to minimize the
work necessary for the player to make it work.
- Take care on quality. Localizations should be complete, including
manual and tribe scripts. AI modules shouldn't crash frequently etc.
- Do not assume files on the players system that are neither part of Windows
nor available from the C-evo files section, e.g. MFC runtime libraries.
- Do not distribute modified executables. Such hacks would not be compatible
with others of the same kind and become outdated with every new game version.
- Do not distribute things which are already contained in the standard game
package. This applies to files as well as single items, e.g. unit pictures.
- Do not distribute copyright protected stuff, except you have the author's
agreement.
- Include description and credits.
- Keep in mind that you have uploaded something to the C-evo site. If you lose
interest in maintaining your files some day and they become outdated, please
remove them from the list.
You should only upload ZIP files. The upload procedure automatically names
the files as .ZIP. Of course, you could upload files of another type and ask the
downloaders to rename them, but please don't do so. The file size limit is 1 MB.
In case you want to upload a nation pack, you should additionally respect to
following:
- Do not distribute artwork in a nation pack which is not being used by the
contained nations(s), i.e. there shouldn't be pictures in the package
which are not referred to by the distributed tribe scripts.
- Do not distribute modified standard files. If you wish to use graphics which
are not part of the standard package, create additional file(s).
- Each graphic file "xyz.bmp" should come with a credit file "xyz.credits.txt".
The authors listed there will be displayed within the game credits list. For the
credit file syntax, see the credit files coming with the game package.
- Be aware that your nation expansion pack might not be the only one installed. Try to
avoid file name conflicts by using unique names. For example, name the distributed
files like "Romans_YourPackageName.tribe.txt" and "Nations_YourPackageName.bmp".
