: If you go to Graphics/Terrain66x32.bmp you will find all the pictures.

Most land tiles don't care about neighbors, transitions occur right at the border.

Forest (Jungle), Hill, and Mountain check if tiles next to them are like them and they ignore diagonals. That means 4 yes or no, giving 16 combinations. That should translate as an offset into the pictures.

Water checks for land and arctic nearby, including diagonals. I'm not sure why there are only 32 instead of 256. Though I don't see any images for channels - land,water,land,water. Some patterns must use overlapping images. For instance, all the land - arctic combinations have to be overlaps.

You should be able to use the map editor to figure out which bit goes with which direction and the order/value of the images.
