If you are experiencing that the Standard AI is too easy, I would suggest at getting Seti.
It is fairly quick in advancements, even on easy or beginner. Its military production and use is much better than any other ai, IMO. And if it gets aircraft, it creates a devastating force that must be defeated as quick as possible.
Also, KIai is fun to play against on 230%, minimum 70% land. The trading, alliances, and war are very enjoyable to play against, in my opinion.
