- Only player 1 can save the game: this would make a 3+ player game almost impossible even if knowing each others actions is acceptable
- Even in a two player game, player 1 will not be able to choose reasearch, since this is only possible at the start of a turn (before saving is possible) or at the end (without saving options afterwards.
So a closed information 2 player game is impossible unless player 2 has someone willing to choose mailed research,initiate and end the turn, save the game.
I'm not sure my wife is willing to do that each turn :-(
On could of couse play an open information game (know all or know opponent empire or any other symmetrical rule)
In addition any assymmetrical game setting is fair in a double game setup: i.e. Player 1 plays nation 1 in game one, nation 2 in game 2. Player 2 plays the other nation; whoever wins fastest (in one of the games) is declared winner.
PS Another solution: Just let the better player be player 1 to solve the problem of player 2 having an advantage.
